Daniel Gerhard Brown popularly known as Dan Brown is an American author most well known for his thriller novels, including the Robert Langdon stories, Angels & Demons (2000), The Da Vinci Code (2003), The Lost Symbol (2009), Inferno (2013) and Origin (2017).
His novels mainly feature the recurring themes of cryptography, keys, symbols, codes, art, and conspiracy theories.
His books have been translated into 56 languages. As of 2012, he has sold over 200 million copies of his books.
The following books have been adapted into films productions: Angels & Demons released in 2000, The Da Vinci Code released in 2003 and Inferno released in 2013 have been adapted into films.
Some of his novels feature the lead character, Langdon, using historical themes and Christianity as motifs that have raised controversy.
Brown having been considered to be on a constant spiritual journey states that his books are not anti-christian.
He also states that his book The Da Vinci Code is simply just “an entertaining story that promotes spiritual discussion” and suggests that the book may be used also “as a positive catalyst for introspection and exploration of our faith”.
