
Dee Wallace also known as Dee Wallace Stone, is an American actress and author. She is best known for her role as Mary, the mother, in the 1982 blockbuster film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She is also known for her starring roles in several horror films like The Hills Have Eyes (1977), The Howling (1981), Cujo (1983) and Critters (1986), which earned her the title of “scream queen”.

Wallace was born in Kansas City, Kansas, and shes the daughter of Maxine and Robert Stanley Bowers. She went to Wyandotte High School and later the University of Kansas where she obtained her degree. She briefly taught high school drama at Washington High School in her native Kansas City in the early 1970s.
Her first marriage was with Barry Wallace. She is yet to drop her first husband name even after their divorce. Her second husband Christopher Stone, died in 1995. They have one daughter, Gabrielle Stone. In 1998, Wallace married television producer Skip Belyea.
Wallace is a public speaker and self-help author, having written three books, and has her own call-in radio show, where she talks exclusively about the creation of “self”. She often talks about how you can get through tough times with determination and love. Her book Bright Light, reflects her lessons from an acting career.

Wallace starred in Steven Spielberg’s film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982. She also starred together with Christopher Stone in several roles like The Howling (1981), Cujo (1983), Together we stand (1986-1987), and The New Lassie (1989- 1992). In The Office episode Garden Party, Wallace played the role of Ellen, the mother of Andy Bernard (Ed Helms). In March 2015, Wallace was cast on the ABC soap opera series General Hospital, as Patricia Spencer, the unseen, long-lost older sister of Luke and Bobbie Spencer. She was also nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Drama Series.
