Freddie Gibbs born Fredrick Tipton  is an American rapper and record producer. Gibbs recorded his debut studio album in 2006 while still signed under Interscope Records. However, he was eventually dropped and the album was cancelled.

The rapper later signed to Young Jeezy’s CTE World label and released a number of mixtapes through the label, including the 2012’s highly acclaimed Baby Face Killa. 

The rapper eventually formed his own label, ESGN  after leaving Jeezy’s in 2013; releasing his debut studio album of the same name in June 2013.

He has then  gone on to release four solo studio albums, as well as two collaborative albums with Madlibas MadGibbs and nine mixtapes. In total with their latest collaboration album released in 2019  titled Bandana.

Freddie was born on June 14, 1982  in Gary, Indiana and is 40 years old in 2023.

Gibbs has a daughter Irie Jane Gibbs.

The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs

The rapper  released The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs in 2009, which is a compilation of his work to that date, where he combined  mixtape tracks with unreleased studio material—and midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik—a collection of new music.Both were released for free to the internet.

The rapper has 10 mixtapes under his belt. On October 31, 2011, he released his ninth mixtape  titled Cold Day In Hell that featuring  rappers  Young Jeezy, Juicy J, Freeway and Dom Kennedy. Cold Day In Hell’s production was handled by  Big K.R.I.T., J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League,  Cardo, DJ Burn One, Speakerbomb, Block Beattaz, Beatnick & K-Salaam and more.

The rapper  launched a GoFundMe in May 2015, to help fund School Supplies  for children in Gary, Indiana. On the GoFundMe page, the rapper explained, “Growing up in Gary there was little opportunity for a kid like me to make something of myself.

Not having the basic supplies…left a lot of us with little motivation to do well in school and turned a lot of us to darker paths. By helping these students acquire the basic supplies every student needs and deserves you will be maximizing their chances at a brighter future.”

The record producer Madlib confirmed that he and the rapper will be releasing a second collaborative studio album called Bandana while having a talk at The Red Bull Music Academy on May 7, 2016.

The producer was also quick to mention that many of the beats he had proposed to Kanye for his project The Life of Pablo will surface on the new project titled Bandana.

Freddie Gibbs took to twitter to confirm Madlib’s comments while his manager tweeted a teaser picture of Madlib beats.

On February 7, 2019, the record producer took to Instagram to post a picture of his cartoon alter-ego Quasimoto with the cryptic caption “we are clearing samples …”, alluding the finalization of their collaborative album.

In regards to teasing of Bandana,Gibbs shared a clip of himself with Madlib on February 12, further teasing the project and stating that they “Might put some shit out. Might. Thinking about it. ”

On January 4, 2017, Currensy announced that a collaborative album between him and Gibbs entitled “Fetti” was in production. 

The rapper Currensy announce on September 21, 2018, that his half of their duo album titled Fetti had been completed, nearly two years after its initial announcement Five days after Currensy’s announcement, Gibbs posted the tracklist and release date on social media. The album was released on October 31, 2018.

You Only Live 2wice

Gibbs  announced his third solo album on March 8, 2017 titled ‘You Only Live 2wice’, along with its pre-order link and release date of March 31, 2017. The album’s  first single, “Crushed Glass”, was consecutively released with a music video.

On November 4, 2014; after a successful performance at a record store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York.  gunman approached his entourage and opened fire on Gibbs, who was sitting in a car . The rapper escaped the bullets unharmed while  two members of his entourage received non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
