Source: nypost.com
Rob Gronkowski isn’t the only NFLer hanging up his cleats for good.
Over the weekend, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin announced his retirement during wife Adia’s baby shower.
“[The reason] we’re standing here right now and everybody else in this room is standing here is because of football, it’s what I do for a living, it’s what I did for a living,” Maclin said. “I wouldn’t necessarily know a lot of people here if it wasn’t for football in some strange way.
“Football has either made us closer or it has developed a relationship that I have with you guys. So something that I want to share with everybody is I’m retiring from the NFL.”
Maclin, 30, who was selected by the Eagles in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, also played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens, who cut the wideout in 2018. He will call it a career after 514 receptions for 6,835 yards and 49 touchdowns.
He later tweeted an additional announcement would be forthcoming.
“There will be a letter and video to follow soon in the near future. It is true I am retiring from the NFL! Stay tuned for how/why I came to this decision. Much love everyone,” he wrote.
