Interview

The Mystery Student has been Revealed: Joel Pimentel

A very talented student at Oak Hills High School, Joel Pimentel, has a once in a lifetime chance to go on a popular television show for Spanish singers called “La Banda”.

Most students know him as the “Mystery Student” that Mr. Porras, our Oak Hills High School Principal, has been talking about during his announcements. After the students here at OHHS figured out who this “mystery student” was, we asked the following questions:

What was your experience auditioning for La Banda ?

“It was my first time performing in front of people,” Pimentel said, “I was really hyped up, but a little nervous. But everything turned out great, and I made some great friends!”

How did you prepare for the show?

“I did not really get a chance to prepare for the show too much because the auditions were right away. My mom had told me a week before the audition.”

How did you find out about the auditions for La Banda?

“My mom heard it on the radio two times and when she had told me about it I had said sure, why not, and that’s how it all started.”

How would you use your experience to motivate others?

“Never give up on your dreams, if you have your mind set on something, you will achieve what you want to achieve.”

Would you change anything that had happened during your audition? If so, why ?

“No, I would not change anything because everything worked out in the end.”

At the end of the interview, we had asked Joel one last question, if he would still work towards his goal if he does not succeed on “La Banda”. His answer was “Of course I will, because music is my passion.”

He is currently in the final 15. If he makes it to the final 12, he will be in the live TV shows starting in November. If he advances to the final 12, we, as proud bulldogs, would like to support him by voting for him. The more votes for Joel, the more chances of him winning the show and pursuing his dreams, so lets keep our fingers crossed and wish him the best!
