Karen Mills-Francis is an American television personality and former county court judge and criminal defense attorney in Florida before turning to TV to preside over her own court shows. She is the judge of TV’s syndicated shows Judge Karen and Judge Karen’s Court.

She completed her undergraduate education at the prestigious Bowdoin College in Maine on a full scholarship and she spent summers studying at the University of Wisconsin.
Mills worked in the public welfare sector in areas such as job training after graduation and helping welfare recipients to gain employment. Later, in 1987, she graduated from the Levin School of Law at the University of Florida.

Unfortunately her mother (Andrea McKinney Mills) passed away on July 1, 2023 at the age of 84, three years after the death of her grandmother.

Judge Karen permitted litigants to cross-examine witnesses, with a segment at the end in which Mills-Francis answers videotaped questions from viewers to distinguish itself from other shows in the crowded field.
However, on 10 January 2009, it was announced that the show would not be renewed for a second season.
The show’s reruns are however being televised on the BET Network and TV One network.
