Mary Walsh (Full name- Mary Cynthia Walsh) is a Canadian actress, comedian, and writer who was born on May 13, 1952, St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.
She is most famous for her role on This Hour Has 22 Minutes. With the movie Young Triffie in 2007, Walsh made her feature directorial debut.
She suffers from macular degeneration and was occasionally a Canadian National Institute for the Blind spokesperson.
In 2022,she was nominated for Best Lead Performance ina Web Program or Series at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards.

Walsh was born as the seventh of eight children to Leo Walsh and Mary Walsh. Her father was a merchant marine who turned firefighter on commercial vessels and spent most of his life out at sea.

In 1992, Walsh started working with co-star Rick Mercer and former CODCO co-stars Cathy Jones and Greg Thomey on the creation of a new television satirical comedy series called This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
The show would be intended to poke fun at Canadian and international politics by being a parody of the nightly news. The show became famous for accosting politicians and subjecting them to satirical interviews hence receiving strong ratings during its earlier seasons.
Walsh created a character Marg Delahunty, played by herself. Marg Delahunty would humiliate the politicians, by providing criticism and matriarchal advice by reciting a scripted piece.
