Melissa Marino Biography
Melissa Marino is an American television news reporter and anchor currently working at WFLA. Moreover, she considers working at WFLA a dream come true. This is because she is doing what she loves at a place she finds very comfortable.
Apart from journalism, she loves spending time at the beach or with her two rescue cats. Also, she also loves working out and cooking.
Melissa was born and raised in Pennsylvania. In her childhood, she revealed to have loved animals and macaroni and cheese.
On the other hand, She graduated from the York College located in Pennsylvania with honors majoring in Mass Communications. However, she minored in behavioral science and human services.
Melissa began her career in journalism at WMPT – FOX 43 based in York, a city in southern Pennsylvania. She started as an intern and rose through the ranks.
Here, she became prominent for her investigations on heroin. As a result, her work also helped in the introduction of a heroin task force. Apart from this, she covered politics at the state capitol in Harrisburg. She also filled in occasionally as an anchor.
At WMPT, she was first a multimedia journalist. In this role, she Develops sources, maintains contacts, and pursuing leads. Furthermore, she also maintained a deep level of familiarity with issues and current events.
After this, she became a Reporter/ Special Projects Producer. In this role, she: reported on weekends, produced newscasts, organized and implemented live shots for newscasts, wrote content for late newscasts among others.
Lastly, she became an Assignment Editor. Therefore she planned and implemented news coverage, managed news crews, and enterprise, and wrote stories for the web and the nightly newscasts.
Later, after her time with WMPT, she joined WFLA, virtual channel 8, an NBC-affiliated television station, in 2016. At WFLA, she covers covering Tampa, Florida, and Pennsylvania, her native home.
