When Monica was in the university, she was active in several weather-related organizations and events. The paved her to to this profession and created opportunities for her.

Furthermore, she got her first position with KMID-TV Big 2 News, in 2010. It was an ABC affiliate that serves the Permian Basin area of Texas.
After seven, months she worked there before moving to KTAB/KRBC in Texas. She worked as a reporter and a meteorologist.
This time, she worked for Nexstar Media Group, which also owns the CBS affiliate KTAB and the NBC affiliate KRBC, where she also worked.

Monica left WSFA 12 News after a year to join NBC Connecticut, or WVIT, an NBC-owned station serving the Hartford-New Haven television market.

Cryan stayed at WeatherNation for another year after finishing her master’s degree in 2017 before deciding to go to PHL17. It serves the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley area.
She stated that one of the reasons she chose to relocate to the station was because she had attended schools in the area, including Penn State University.
