However, he converted to Christianity while studying to become an oil and gas lawyer at the University of Texas at Austin. Later, Paul moved to Peru and became a missionary there for 10 years.
Earlier, while in Peru in 1988, he founded the HeartCry Missionary Society to support indigenous missionaries witnessing to people of their own culture. He later returned to the United States and has resided in Radford, Virginia since 2010. currently, he continues as the mission director of HeartCry.
