Education Background
He attended Penn Wood High School in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, and played both football and basketball. In addition he was playing college football at Penn State University. However he later transferred to Baylor University.
Career
Oakman was a standout basketball and football star at Penn Wood High School. Besides committing to play for Penn State for the Nittany Lions he had an occurrence in February 2012 which led to his dismissal for violating the guidelines.
Afterwards he transferred to Texas, Waco in Baylor University and that is where he was a star for the best sports memes.
On April 13, 2016, Shawn was convicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 22 years old woman. Since she was drunk she could not remeber exactly what happened but she said that oakman forced her to get to his campus duplex, grabbed her clothes off and threw her on his bed face down and assaulted her.
The grand jury sentenced Shawn on second degree felony sexual assault charges on July 20,2016. The NFL Draft which he had declared was “undraftable” since no team picked him.
It took years for Oakman to get a trial since he was fighting to clear his name. However his football dream was now on hold and he had to find a normal job at a diaper factory. However he could not keep a job for long.
Oakman did not give up on football and could play anywhere. In 2018, he played in Bismark, North Dakota in the Champions Indoor League where he was payed $200 a game.
On February 28, 2019 he won his trial and was found innocent. His attorney said that the scientific evidence tested by the nurse was inconsistent.
So Shawn took a chance whenever he got one and he played for Austin Generals in the Spring League in April 2019 then the West Virginia Roughriders in June 2019 with the American Arena League. However in 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the league in April 10,2020 and he was left to figure out what he will do.
Currently, he is playing for the Toronto Argonauts, and he is leading Toronto in sacks the past two seasons. In addition he led to the Argonauts in capturing the 109th Grey Cup.
NFL
All values from NFL Combine, Oakman went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft. . In November 2017, Oakman signed with the Triangle Torch of the American Arena League for the 2018 season.
Why he is not in the NFL
Zierlein believed the arrest would likely result in Oakman being removed from all NFL team boards. All values from NFL Combine, Oakman went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft. HAfter the draft, he wasn’t expected to get signed as an undrafted free agent due to the legal issues he was facing at the time.
