Ted Sarandos is an American prominent businessman who is the current co-CEO of Netflix.Ted became the co-CEO of Netflix on 19th January 2023.
Additionally in 2022,he was named ”Entertainment Person of the Year” at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. In 2016, under his leadership and lead the company received 54 Prime time Emmy Awards nominations.

Ted Sarandos Family and early life
He was born in Phoenix Arizona.Ted’s mother was a stay-at-home mom,while his father(Ted Sandros Sr.)was an electrician.He has four siblings three elder sisters and a young brother. He is the fourth born of five children.
At school, he wrote for his high school newspaper and he met and interviewed the actor Ed Asner. Later in the height of his Lou Grant period, Asner introduced him to others in the entertainment industry.
He attended Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. He later joined Arizona State University where he majored in journalism until he left college to manage the video store where he worked since his high school days, Arizona Video Cassettes West.
Career
Ted managed 8 retail video stores in the “Arizona Video Cassette West” chain from 1983-1988. He later became the Western Regional Director of Sales and Operations for one of the largest video distributors in the United States, East Texas Distributors (ETD) in 1988.
Sarandos was the Vice President of Product and Merchandising for almost 500 store chain until March 2000. He was responsible for negotiating revenue deals to migrate from the company from the VHS format into the DVD format. He joined Netflix in 2000 after meeting Reed Hastings in 1999. Ted serves as Netflix’s Chief Executive Officer and as Chief Content Officer at Netflix.
Sarandos oversees the teams responsible for the acquisition and creation of all Netflix content.
He initiated the first round of original programming at Netflix, starting with Lilyhammer, and then continuing with the breakout David Fincher series starring Kevin Spacey, House of Cards.
In March 2011 deal he began with the House of Cards which was bought for $100 million. He created the model where Netflix purchases multiple seasons of shows without pilot orders.
He uses algorithms to predict what programs viewers will want to watch before producing them. His algorithm focuses on 70% which focuses on a base of data and 30% judgment as of the highest priority.
He sees the new model as a way to prioritize the needs and desire of the consumer. Sarandos sees Netflix as a digital product where there is a balance between distributing physical bits of content versus streaming digital content would be cheaper as both broadband and Netflix grew.
He said he expects the amount Netflix spends on original programming to rise considerably during the 2016 Television Critics Association. Ted said that by 2016 Netflix would be showing over 600 hours of original programming.
