The King of England

The Current Monarch (King of England) is King Charles III. He is the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales. The Monarch ascended the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The United Kingdom is looking forward to the first coronation after 70 years of the king that will take place in 2023.

Charles III also known as Charles Philip Arthur George is the King of the United Kingdom and the 14 others commonwealth realms.

When was the King of England born?

The King was born on November 14, 1948. He is the oldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was made Prince of Wales when he was 10 years in 1958.

As per tradition, on 2 August 1975, his BA was promoted to a Master of Arts (MA Cantab) degree: at Cambridge, a Master of Arts is not a postgraduate degree.


The king studied archaeology and anthropology, and history at Trinity College Cambridge. He also studied language and Welsh history at the University College of Wales.

King Charles III served in Royal Air Force and received Air Force Training in Cambridge.

The king has three siblings; Anne (born 1950), Andrew (born 1960), and Edward (born 1964).

Charles married Diana Frances Spencer, daughter of the 8th Earl Spencer on July 29, 1981. The couple’s first child Prince Williams of Wales was born in 1981, and Prince Henry Charles Albert David (Harry) was born on 15 September 1984.

The king marriage to Diana became strenuous with time due to intense scrutiny from press and the rumors of infidelity. They separated in 1992 and started to share responsibility of their sons. The couple divorced on August 28, 1996 and a year later Diana died in an auto accident.

Charles and Camilla

In 9 April 2005, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles who later received the title Duchess of Cornwall. Camila is the ex-wife of Andrew Parker Bowles and together they have two children, Tom and Laura Parker Bowles.

Charles and Camilla met at a polo match in Windsor Great Park, started to date and spending a lot of time together. The relationship between the two ended when the king was send to sea for the Royal Navy.

Camilla wedded Andrew Parker in 1973 whereas Charles married Diana in 1981. However, reports stated that the two (Camilla and Charles) were having an affair despite both being married to other people. Diana confronted Camila in 1989 and in 1990, there was a leak of the full transcript intimate phone call between Camila and Charles. In 1995, Camila divorced parker followed by the king who divorced Diana 1996.

Queen Camilla

On February 5 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth shared a message on the eve of her Accession Day. In the message, the queen wrote, “when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”

Pictures of King Charles red and swollen fingers resurfaced after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. There have been a lot of speculation regarding his swollen fingers. Some health experts relate the condition with Oedema, while others speculate it could mean that some of his internal organs like the kidney or liver are not in a good condition.

The King Condolence message following the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The king sent his condolence on 31st December 2022, following the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He recalled former pope visit to the United Kingdom in 2010 and how it strengthened the relations between the Holy See and the United Kingdom. He stated that the former pope used to promote peace and goodwill to all people, and strengthen the relationship between the global Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church. 

2023 Coronation of King Charles

Charles, 74, will be crowned king not just of Britain but 14 other realms including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. But many of those in the Caribbean, such as Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, and the Bahamas have indicated they wish to ditch the monarch as head of state.

Conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Coronation Ceremony is due to be held at Westminster Abbey, London. King Charles will be crowned alongside the Queen Consort. As Buckingham Palace notes, “The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry”.
