Tre Isaiah Jones, popularly known as Tre Jones, is an American college basketballer who played for the Duke Blue Devils of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).  He joined the varsity team and became a starter in his next season while in the eighth grade. Jones is also an American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Jones was born on 8 January, 2000 in Apple Valley, Minnesota, United States and is therefore 23 years old as of 2023. He celebrates his birthday on every January 8th each year.

Since he was born in a family of basketball players, his parents named Tyus his brother after Tyus Edney, who is a former professional basketball player who played as a point guard for the Sacramento Kings. 

In addition, his grandfather, Dennis Deutsch, was a member of the United States Armed Forces.

Tre Jones High School Career

Jones played in Apple Valley for Apple Valley High School, Minnesota. While in eighth grade Jones joined the varsity team becoming a starter in his next season.

In 2015 and 2017, he led Apple Valley to two Minnesota 4A state titles, and averaged 23.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in the 2016–17 season.

By the end of his high school career, Jones was considered as a five-star recruit and one of the best point guards in the 2018 class. 

He left as a two-time Minnesota Gatorade Player of the Year earning McDonald’s All-American and Minnesota Mr. Basketball honors after his senior season. He committed on August 13, 2017, to play college basketball for Duke.

Tre Jones College Career| Injury Update| Duke

On November 6, 2018, Jones made his college a debut for Duke, recording 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists in a 118–84 win over Kentucky at the Champions Classic. Jones led his team to a 69–58 victory over Texas Tech on December 20, collecting 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals.

On January 14, 2019, he suffered a shoulder injury after a collision with Frank Howard of Syracuse. He  returned on January 26 versus Georgia Tech after he had missed two games.

Isaiah Tre Jones National team career

Jones played at the 2015 FIBA Americas Under-16 Championship in Argentina for the United States and won a gold medal. He recorded 19 steals in that competition and broke the Malik Newman’s American under-16 record set in 2013.

Currently he is playing for San Antonio Spurs where he joined in 2020.
