Promotion to Chief Meteorologist
In August 2023, Jason was promoted to Chief Meteorologist. KCCI news director Allison Smith said “Jason has a rare combination of weather knowledge and a magnetic personality; he is fun to watch, a trusted forecaster, and a valuable leader. We are excited to see him bring these together to lead our weather team.”
His promotion comes after the exit of Chris Gloninger, citing ‘death threat” from viewer. Jason will also lead KCCI’s “Forecasting Our Future” coverage, which examines “weather and climate’s impact on business, health, finances and lifestyle.”
